A Lost Boy Speaks to ECUSA
Sustained by Hope, Anticipating the Future, an interview by Faith McDonnell of the Institute for Religion and Democracy with the Rev'd John Chol Daau, a former Sudanese "lost boy" now serving in Kenya. He's a bit mystified by the Episcopal Church:
FM: What would you like to say to the leaders of ECUSA [the Episcopal Church USA]?
JD: I would like to ask them - where did they get the scripture of homosexuality? They need to show the world where they got their argument in the Scripture.
ECUSA has lost its way. The Devil has stolen their sense of spiritual understanding. They should seek God so that He will bring that sense of spiritual understanding. We cannot understand the Scripture with worldly wisdom. This is foolishness to the world.
I would tell them that there is always hope for them. There is hope for them if they can repent. You can sin, but Jesus will not reject you. Look at the Prodigal Son. They should not be guided by their own philosophies.

I don’t want to pile on ECUSA, since it’s not my problem anymore, but this struck me as rather poignant.
For those not familiar with the “lost boys” of Sudan, they are young men who fled the (primarily anti-Christian) violence and slave raiding in Sudan as boys of 6 - 8 back in the late 80’s. After more than a decade in refugee camps, they have been resettled in the United States.
These guys, who have seen way too much, see clearly; being unsophisticated, they know the truth when they find it.
“I praise You, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, for this way was well-pleasing in Your sight.” (Luk 10:21)
For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools… (Rom 1:21-22)
