For a little Friday Fun

Faunmap is an application developed by the Illinois State Museum. In it's own words, it's "an electronic database for the late Quaternary distribution of mammal species in the United States." In other words, you can pick a mammal and compare its ice-age distribution to its current range. Well, for saber-tooth tigers, the modern range is kind of slim, but you get the picture.

Back in the old days, they had jaguars as far north as St. Louis (see graphic) and muskox as far south as Tennessee. Cool! Well, okay, maybe you have to be a bit of a geek, but I think it's cool!
