Spong the subject of a new play

And a tip of the gimme cap to TexAnglican for posting this one.  I love the title of the play – A Pebble in My Shoe.  Wouldn’t A Stumbling Block in Your Path have been more appropriate?

I don’t have a problem with Bishops who decide to be neoatheists; I just have a problem with them staying Bishops. Why would you want to be part of a religion that you think is bogus?  The weird thing about Spong is that he is not simply content to leave the church; he seems to require constant self-affirmation by dragging as many people with him as he possibly can.  Come to think of it, isn’t there Someone Else who has been trying to do that since the he met up with Eve in the Garden of Eden?  There’s something demonically creepy about the whole thing.
